Oh, look: it’s my current favorite fictional character illustrated by my always favorite Illustrator.
THAT’S NICE.

If you’re not going to follow me on twitter because yesterday was my two year anniversary on the site, at least follow me for my cell phone pictures of terrible pen doodles.

at about 11:30 I fell asleep, and I woke up about an hour and a half ago. In that time I skimmed through the winter 2009 issue of “American Artist: Drawing” magazine. I had forgotten that this was the magazine that sparked my love affair with James Jean. That in mind, and the quote I just posted led me to draw a few hands (poorly) in ballpoint pen; a medium I often put aside due to the safety net that is graphite. Considering how unforgiving ink can be, I think they’re okay.
The LOL on the shoulder has a very deep and personal meaning to me stemming from a long time-
Just kidding, I have no clue why I put that there.

As someone who has a large portion of artist friends, I’ve had the privilege of having people draw me, often. Whether it be doodles, or portrait-projets or whathaveyou, but today was something else.
My internet friend, Juan and I met today at Comic-Con. Hung out for most of the day, and did not act like people who had just met. Like everyone I met in real life this weekend who I hadn’t: Insta-friends.
Then, he told me to draw him something, so I took forever on a Punisher doodle (thank you, conveniently placed comics) and in what felt like less than 5 minutes, he made the most accurate depiction of me, ever. I don’t think it needs to be said, but European Juan is the coolness.

Trying ink and pencil together. I’ve ingeniously given this drawing the working title “Handsome Black Guy”

Finally.

Finally.
